One of the joys of summer for me is thumping watermelons.

I basically knock on all the ones I can easily reach with my knuckle. And I narrow down the best sounding ones. Rapping one. And then the other.

I listen for a certain resonance and vibration that signifies juice.

Juiciness.

It’s something I seek in watermelons and books, whether they’re still rough drafts or already published.

This explains in part why I named my company Story Juice LLC.

I’m always on the lookout for the juice in a story.

It’s what lures readers in and holds their attention. It keeps them rivetted.

If you need help with writing or editing your book manuscript AND you want to know how to write the juiciest book possible, reach out.

I’m Sandra Yin.

And I love to uncover hidden voices. Growing up, I rarely saw anyone on TV or in the news who resembled me. Nor was my experience reflected in the books I read. Like many other people, especially women and immigrants, I was used to feeling invisible. As I’ve honed my craft over the past 20+ years, I’ve made it my mission to bring more stories to life on the page, so that everyone can feel seen.
