Far more people want to write a book than actually manage to.

And it’s understandable. It’s hard to get started.

Whether you want to write a book to leave a legacy to descendants or share your expertise, you may find yourself sitting frozen in front of your blank screen.

Questions threaten to submerge you:

  • What do your target readers need?
  • What parts of your story should you share?
  • What is the global frame for your book?
  • How do you get your story to pour out of you like water from a spigot?
  • And how do you keep the tap turned on?

When you’re bombarded by all the decisions that need to be made, it can be confusing.

Even overwhelming. Your lizard brain may go into overdrive in fight or flight mode, your body tightening up.

Under these conditions, it can be impossible to access your inspiration.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Your book project doesn’t have to stress you out.

With the right support, writing your book could be a lot easier.

If you’re not sure how to write your book, don’t go it alone. Instead of flailing, look to someone with a life preserver who can guide you to the shore.

An editor can help you get your book written without the tears. As your guide, she can serve as your GPS. And you can write your book from an inspired mind space—not through grunt work. It will take certain types of self regulation.

Under the right conditions, the words will pour out of you.

Just realize that you don’t have to do this all alone.

Getting the support you need to write with ease could make your book a reality.

I’m Sandra Yin.

And I love to uncover hidden voices. Growing up, I rarely saw anyone on TV or in the news who resembled me. Nor was my experience reflected in the books I read. Like many other people, especially women and immigrants, I was used to feeling invisible. As I’ve honed my craft over the past 20+ years, I’ve made it my mission to bring more stories to life on the page, so that everyone can feel seen.
